For over a decade now, I have been choosing a word of the year to frame the New Year. Instead of setting “resolutions” I set an intention, a mindset, a frame to see my world from throughout the year. To do this process, I first make a SoulCollage card and journal some prompts from the card. In the process of SoulCollage you mindlessly create a card using images and collage techniques, and then you speak to yourself from the card. So, your image, that the card/images are communicating directly to you. I use the three prompts “I am one who…” “I am here to tell you…” “what I need from you is…” for my word of the year card.

After doing the journal, I look back on the words, what sticks out, what is repetitive and recurring, is there a theme? And from there, I begin more freestyle writing, research, and investigating until I find what feels right. Sometimes it comes right away, sometimes it takes a few days, or a week. This year, my word of the year is
LUSTER
With the phrase “Reflect the light, and renew.”
Emerging from the darkness of 2024 and into the renewal energy of this next year. A glow from reflected light…surround yourself with light…it’s okay if you don’t feel bright, but the light can reflect off of you. It is within you and renewable.
Seek love, adventure, honesty, and refreshment. Return, again, and again, and again. <3
